Starting this month, IKEA will only sell and serve certified coffee at all its stores and offices globally. To ensure that all coffee sold and served at IKEA is produced under socially and environmentally responsible conditions, IKEA has decided to strictly use UTZ Certified coffee. UTZ Certified is an independent not-for-profit organization that sets a standard for responsible coffee growing and sourcing.

This recognized and trustworthy certification traces all coffee back to the plantations and ensures plantation workers' families have access to reasonable housing, healthcare and education for their children. UTZ Certified also requires that plantations have a low impact on the environment and  that farmers minimize the use of energy, water, and work to prevent soil erosion.

UTZ Certified IKEA coffee caters to all types of palates. The filtered coffee - known to be the most common coffee in Sweden - includes the following blends: BRYGGKAFFE MELLANROST (filter coffee medium roast), Ekologiskt BRYGGKAFFE MELLANROST (organic filter coffee medium roast),  RYGGKAFFE MORKROST (filter coffee dark roast), ESPRESSO-KAFFE (espresso) and KAFFE HELA BONOR MORKROST (coffee whole beans dark roast).  Each distinctive roast offers customers a variety of flavours without sacrificing taste or inflating prices. IKEA coffee will ensure that you have an authentic Swedish "fika" break (coffee break) to help you get through your day.

All coffee sold from an UTZ Certified farm or cooperative is registered in a web-based system. An identification number travels along the coffee chain to the roaster. Consumers are then able to track the origins of their coffee packages and learn more about the plantation that produced the coffee package bought in the Swedish Food Market at www.utzcertified.org/IKEA.
