Canadian LEED Case Study Home "Project vivo" has selected kama Energy Efficient Building Systems Panels (kama-EEBS Panels) for the floor, wall and roof panels of its eco-efficient two-story addition.

Using kama-EEBS Panels, along with other selected materials and technologies, Project vivo anticipates securing a Gold LEED rating.  It conservatively estimates receiving a score at 84 points, just 2 points shy of a LEED Platinum certification.

Project vivo is using kama-EEBS Panels - a custom fabricated structurally insulated panel comprised of light gauge steel framing and expanded polystyrene (EPS).  At R-4 per inch with no thermal bridging, this lightweight, structural system of recycled steel and EPS (which is GreenGuard Certified for superior indoor air quality and has been C2C assessed by MBDC  "suited for circulating in a cradle-to-cradle lifecycle as a technical nutrient) provides Project vivo with an affordable, lightweight system and significant reductions in labor costs, construction time and eliminates the need for specialized equipment on this narrow infill lot in downtown Victoria, British Columbia, Ashcroft says.

About Project vivo:

The Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) launched a pilot study in early 2008 of its new residential rating system for green building of new construction and major renovations projects, entitled LEED Canada for Homes.   Project vivo was selected as a pilot project in the CaGBC's case study program.  Participants in the program are leading Canadian home builders taking on a significant role in the development of the LEED Canada for Homes rating system to be officially launched in the spring of 2009.  Project vivo is the only major gut and rehab participating in the pilot program of 45 projects nationwide.  Project vivo is a study in the accessibility, affordability and attributable value of greening existing homes.  To learn more about Project vivo and to track its progress, visit http://www.vivodepot.com/.
